PONY Club is one of the new school clubs. It is a club for students who have their own horse or access to a horse to compete in local events.
It is available for Year 7 to Year 10 students who own a horse.
To set it up, Mr Coad had to get in touch with Diana Hardy, district commissioner of Western Branch Pony Club.
Students are happy that horse riding has been acknowledged as a sport and incorporated into the school clubs.
Abi Pope said: “It’s an amazing club and we’re excited to be involved.”
There is already an amazing trip to London in October to go and see the Horse Of The Year Show, at Olympia.
Mr Coad said: “After taking students to the big brown horse I got talking to them and suddenly realised how many students at Penair had their own horse and how popular horse riding was.
“I quickly spoke to other students and asked them if they would be interested in representing the school in local events and after speaking to Mr Hocking I set up the club.
“We will be taking part in local events.”
